2023.3: Quality of life updates!

We are proud to announce the disk image release of Rhino Linux 2023.3. This disk image packs the latest and greatest changes we have made to Rhino Linux over this past month of development. Users already running Rhino Linux will already have these changes providing that their systems are kept up to date.

2023.2: Unicorn updates, bug fixes & more!

Rhino Linux 2023.2 is the second disk image release we have published. After ~3 weeks of development I am happy to say that it is ready to be shipped. Users already running Rhino Linux should already have the changes if they have upgraded their systems.

2023.1 Release - The making of the distro

Rhino Linux has now officially moved out of Beta! We have released Rhino Linux 2023.1 on x86_64, ARM, Pine64 and Raspberry Pi devices. For this post we're going to do something a little different and talk about how we developed the distribution.

This beta release brings a flurry of desktop improvements, bug fixes, and under-the-hood improvements to the distribution, as well as a new platform to run Rhino Linux on!

Beta5, Unicorn Desktop & issues upgrading.

Rhino Linux has had a fair amount of beta releases, mostly fixing smaller issues that have arisen since the first one. We are now happy to announce the release of Rhino Linux 2023.1-beta5. This beta release brings a lot of major changes to Rhino Linux, including the release of our Unicorn Desktop experience.

Rhino Linux is pleased to announce that it has entered open beta. This is the collective work of multiple contributors and developers. Rhino Linux is designed to work on a variety of devices, including the PinePhone Pro, PinePhone and PineTab.

The state of Rhino Linux. Development Update #1

Rhino Linux has now been in active development since October 2022. The core vision for the distribution has remained the same throughout the development cycle. Many things have changed since our original announcement detailing the development of the distribution, though.

Moving forward with Rolling Rhino Remix

Over time, the current development model of Rolling Rhino Remix has become untenable. It started as a passion project with code that is not mature. The project grew quickly, and unfortunately the immature code that makes the distribution is still present today. Rhino Linux will be an Ubuntu-based, rolling release operating system with Ubuntu, Pacstall, and XFCE at the core of the distribution.
